Any time the prospect of some project, idea, or task comes up in life - You're supposed to spend some time finding the right person to do the job. I've never been able to get past the thought of "If that guy can do it, then why can't I? We've both got 2 arms and 10 fingers".

So buy the tools, then buy the right tools, probably screw things up a few times, and make sure to spend more than it would have cost to hire a professional in the first place - that's how you get good.
